Had a couple in my younger years but both have not stayed with me fortunately!

Andy Gratton in his move from FD to MD meant a need for a new FD in the business. I will be supporting the Exec Team and wider business in financial performance and profitability. Ensuring we have all of the correct tools to be successful and supporting the wider Group Strategy

It is a diverse role covering FP&A, Strategy and Reporting. I am really enjoying understanding the products and the people in the organisation and bringing teams together.

Ring has a reputation as a great place to work, good culture and products. As part of the Ams-Osram Group it suits me as well having previously worked for a large international group in plastics manufacture.

As Marketing Director, I have responsibility for making sure the marketing team support the sales teams’ objectives with engaging and targeted activities across advertising, social media, events, PR, instore and online point of sale and digital content. The team is also responsible for looking after the brand positioning of OSRAM, RING and NEOLUX within the markets we operate in.

There is always something new happening. The business never stays still and as a result creates a lot of energy which is great atmosphere to be around. The culture of the place is also a key factor. There is sense that everyone wants to pull together and work together. A very strong team ethos.

Ring is constantly looking at new opportunities, there is a sense of anything is possible.

Eat toast upside down, it is where you have spread the flavour.

I’ve bored many a people at Ring with tales of fish I’ve not managed to catch….

I head up the Sales division for Ring which encompasses the Retail, Aftermarket & Specialist teams. Our portfolio of customers is both varied and diverse, so our ‘One Team’ approach ensures our skills, experience & product portfolio best serve their needs!

The diversity of initiatives & projects to be involved in. Many businesses work in silos which is not the case here at Ring. The traditional boundaries of roles & responsibilities are blurred and that’s a good thing, both for the company and for your own personal development. Consequently, I can honestly say I’ve learnt more in the last 7 years here at Ring than I did in the previous twenty elsewhere.
We are also fast-paced and very busy which I enjoy immensely, you will certainly never be bored…..it really is a curiously addictive business!

Simply put, the people & the culture. There’s a DNA that runs through our business that is sometimes hard to articulate. We have four core values that are central to everything we do whether it be our ‘one team’ approach, the ‘passion’ we have, the ‘respect’ for each other or our unwavering ‘customer focus’. If you work here though you’ll get it, in fact you’ll feel it!

I’m a Geordie born and bred so we are famous for having the best football team in the world. Well certainly some of the best supporters anyway. Newcastle have been in the wilderness for several years but hopefully this is set to change...

As Operations Director, I work with the Warehouse teams, Customer Services, Maintenance, QA and the Production team. I also head up the company ESG strategy.

Working across so many departments and with a big team of people that have a variety of skills and passions means it is never boring and is always busy.

I love a day at the coast on a Sunday. A long walk on the beach with my partner, our daughters and the baby of the family – Ruby our French Bulldog – especially on a cold, sunny day. Always followed up with a home-made roast dinner with all the trimmings and a large glass of Malbec in a cosy pub - it’s my idea of heaven!

Alongside my team we look to provide a supportive service to our internal customers within the business and work with the Senior Managers to support the delivery of our people strategy. It covers all elements of the employee lifecycle, starting with recruitment and is focused on developing high performing, highly motivated teams who work together to make our business a success, both now and in the future.

I love the variety of the role and that there are so many opportunities to make a positive difference. The people are great too – so friendly and welcoming.

I loved the energy and enthusiasm from the colleagues involved in my interview process who are clearly passionate about the Group, its people and and driving it forward to be the best in class. The Executive Board understand the importance of their people in driving an organisation and strategy forward and that was a strong selling point for me.

Patience - which is tested to the max on a daily basis which a daughter in her tween years! On a positive note, I think children make you remember to have fun whether its jumping in muddy puddles, making snow angels or jumping the waves in the sea – sometimes it’s the simple things that can bring so much joy.

One passion though I’d love time to have 10 hobbies!

I head up our Retail sales team; leading a team of National Account Managers that look after our UK retail and e-commerce customers.

A little over 4 years. I joined as a National Account Manager and stepped into the ‘Head of’ role in 2023.

I develop, manage and implement our sales objectives for our retail customers. These include online marketplaces, automotive specialists, UK grocers and DIY trade counters.
Along with my team, we grow Ring’s share and presence; developing marketing and promotional strategies, identifying new product opportunities and securing new business prospects.

I enjoy the varied nature of our customers and the unique opportunities and challenges each one presents. What’s right for one, is not necessarily right for another, and we have to adapt.
I also enjoy that the size and scope of the Retail division means that we’re not siloed into a sales function; we’re party to cross-function projects and conversations that have a wider impact on the business.
Given that many of our customers are household names, it’s nice to know that what we do in Retail can positively impact brand awareness for Ring too.

I love that we can wear different hats. As part of the ams-OSRAM group, we can leverage the scale and benefit of being a multi-national enterprise; but on a UK level, Ring have never lost sight of its own identity, and we can be agile and independent. I can still remember being told that Ring was a “maverick business”’ during my interview and this remains true today. Finally, we have a great people ethic which means there’s lots of positivity and people are passionate about what they do.

Marketing

Since August 2023

My main aim is to ensure that Ring and its products are displayed in the best possible way across the internet. This includes ensuring images, titles and product descriptions are accurate and optimised for a variety of different online marketplaces. This includes our own website, our direct-to-consumer site and third-party retailers such as Amazon, Argos and Halfords. By utilising a variety of analytic data tools, I help create captivating content that will boost the reach, views and sales of Ring products.

I love the variety and scope of my role here at Ring. Every day provides fresh challenges and the opportunity to work with new partners to achieve our goal. As e-commerce continues to grow at an incredible pace, it's a really exciting time to be in the middle of it all, helping develop and grow Ring's online presence.

The team and the products! Being a massive petrolhead and somewhat of a geek, there's no better place for me to work than surrounded by innovation within the automotive space. It also goes without saying that the team here at Ring is one of a kind. Supporting, intelligent and incredibly funny, there's never a day when I don't look forward to coming to work!

Marketing

Almost 18 months

One of my main responsibilities is assisting the Product team with the launch of their new products. This includes working with our photographer to take new product photos in the studio, and then shots of the product being used in various situations. For example, with one of the new tyre inflators, I was in the photos demonstrating all the features of the product, as well as a series of social media videos.
I also work with the Product Managers in piecing together the various other elements that go with a product, such as specification sheets, instruction manuals, packaging designs, web content and customer support content. I then plan the full launch of the product from who the target audience is, where we are to push the launch and when this is all to happen.
Another key responsibility I have is looking after the company Events calendar. This can involve showing our support for our customers' own events by providing 1 or 2 members of the Sales and/or Product team with a small selection of products to demonstrate, through to large-scale events such as the Commercial Vehicle Show, Automechanika and ScrewFix Live!
As part of supporting the wider Marketing, Retail and Trade Aftermarket teams, I help to supply them with as much product information as they need when talking to their customers.

The variety of the role and the opportunity to work with other team members at all levels from across the business

There is a strong feeling of "One Team" across the whole company. There is no feeling of a "hierarchy of importance" within the business, and there is a great level of respect for your work from others.
